Come and give it a try
Little Athletics is a great sport for all kids from five to fifteen. There's everything from running and jumping to throwing and walking. And don't think you're too slow: you're not!
Read more about Little Athletics in this Wikipedia article on the History of Little Athletics (Wikipedia is an online encyclopaedia).
The IAAF Athletic Competition Rule Book is also surprisingly readable. It's 240 pages all-up but is guaranteed to resolve those nagging questions about jumps, angles, high jump tie breakers, lane widths and more. You simply won't put it down. Download it here in Acrobat format: it's about 1MB.

There are Little Athletics clubs throughout Tasmania and on the mainland. Some are small, like St Helens, while one of the Launceston clubs has over 300 members. Regional and statewide competitions are held in Hobart, Launceston and on the North West coast.
Where and when
Our venue is Sandown Park in Lower Sandy Bay. Take the turn off towards Nutgrove Beach on the left just before the shops.

As Mary knows, parents are just as important as kids because we need their help for things to run smoothly every Saturday. If you've got any special skills or training, perhaps you'd like to help on our club committee?
Next Committee Meeting
Our next meeting will be Queenborough's AGM to be held on Monday 19th May at 7.30pm in the boardroom at Fahan School in Fisher Ave, Lower Sandy Bay. Interested parents are encouraged to attend and can contact Donna Luck on 6243 8946 for more information. Here are the March Minutes

If a club meeting is cancelled because of bad weather, we'll advise you via this website as well as over radio station 101.7 HO-FM, usually after 7am on Saturday.

Thanks...
...to those parents who have been helping out above and beyond the normal call of Saturday morning duty. Step forward please, Craig Proctor, who has recently designed and built the club a hurdles trolley, greatly speeding up the process of moving hurdles from storage to the track. Belated thanks also to Mark O'Conor who built the covers for the long jump pit extension.
Also thanks to all the parents that have helped out at the barbeque in recent weeks. Our thanks again to our new sponsor Get Smart I.T. Solutions for providing the aprons.
Lots of events to choose from
Queenborough athletes shine
Queenborough athletes won over 30 medals during the March long weekend's State Championships held at the St Leonards track in Launceston. Just nine athletes and two relay teams were responsible for this massive haul.

Last meeting of 07/08 season
Plenty of events but not as we know them...such as running (or hopping) the 100m backwards; gumboot throwing was popular, so were relays and 'specialised' jumps. Craig Proctor took dozens of photos that we've published as galleries. Thirty-six photos to look at!
